Girl rescued after falling into well in western Georgia

WHITESBURG, Ga. - Firefighters have pulled a young girl to safety after she fell into a well in western Georgia.

Footage from local television stations showed Carroll County emergency responders loading the girl's stretcher into the back on an ambulance Monday afternoon.

Details on how the girl fell into the well and the extent of her injuries were not immediately available.

Carroll County Fire Department Lt. Clay Kierbow was lowered into the well to rescue the girl and told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution she fell into the hole in an awkward position.

Carroll County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Brad Robinson says the girl was alert, conscious and breathing when she was lifted from the well.
