Scholarship remembers deceased Alabama student who died while hunting

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A scholarship has been established in memory of a 16-year-old Alabama high school student who died while hunting.

The Gordon Gray Godwin Scholarship will provide $2,000 annually in tuition assistance to a student enrolled at Trinity Presbyterian School in Montgomery. Godwin attended Trinity before his family moved to Homewood in 2013. Godwin went missing on Thanksgiving Day while duck hunting in Coosa County. His body was found the next day in Lake Martin. He was a sophomore at Homewood High School.

Family friend Steve Meany said the scholarship will remind people of the impact Godwin had on their lives. He said contributions to the scholarship fund can be made through the Central Alabama Community Foundation's website (http://www.cacfinfo.org ).
