FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Soddy-Daisy and East Ridge joined early winners Cleveland and McCallie in the state duals championships at the Williamson County Agricultural Expo.
The Trojans, who sent three starters home Thursday morning, dispatched Science Hill in the teams’ round-of-16 meet 51-14 while East Ridge bested Sycamore in an A/AA quarterfinal. Former championship Hixson was the only Chattanooga area team to suffer a first-round setback, losing to Greeneville 39-31.
Baylor was wrestling Christian Brothers and McCallie was taking on Father Ryan in Division II quarterfinals.
In the Class AAA quarterfinals, Soddy-Daisy and Cleveland were ahead of Clarksville and Wilson Central, respectively.
Soddy-Daisy coach Jim Higgins dismissed three starters from the team Thursday morning for violation of team rules — Turbo Smith, Branndon Hunt and Cody Grant.
