Biz Briefs: Hollywog adds 22 more jobs

Hollywog adds 22 more jobs

Hollywog LLC will expand its Chattanooga operations, adding 22 manufacturing and administrative jobs over the next three years.

The Chattanooga-based medical device maker said Friday the $400,000 investment will include new tooling and restructuring of its facilities on Amnicola Highway.

Hollywog designs, develops and manufactures medical devices for pain management and physical rehabilitation. The company recently released the world's first wireless remote controlled pain relief device, the WiTouch.

"Our growth comes from years of investment, innovative product design, and an incredible global distribution network, and we will continue this path as new products drive our growth projections," company CEO Chuck Thomas said.

Utility says bills shouldn't change

Georgia Power Co. officials predict there will be "no significant impact" on customer bills in 2014 related to its plans to close coal and oil units, new environmental programs or efficiency initiatives.

The utility said it does not plan to build any additional power plants in the next several years, saying growth in demand is slow enough to be covered by existing power stations, the Plant Vogtle nuclear expansion and energy efficiency.

Georgia Power's 20-year energy plan said customers will get the bulk of their power from natural gas.
