Silverdale senior guard Mariah Massengill will be honored Friday, Feb. 8 for going over the 2,000-point mark, prior to a District 5-A game against Arts & Sciences.

Massengill currently has 2,184 career points, but the Lady Seahawks have only played at home once since Dec. 13 and the school hasn't had the opportunity to honor her. She has already signed to continue her career with Eastern Kentucky University, an Ohio Valley Conference school.

This season, she's averaging 22.8 points, 3.5 assists and 2.8 steals for the 11-7 Lady Seahawks, currently first in 5-A with a 4-0 mark.

"She's a very mature player," Silverdale coach David Massengill said. "She's grown up; she's done a good job of sharing the ball because we have other players that can score.

"Going over 2,000 points was more important to her than it was to me, but it's a great honor and I'm happy she got there."
