Laura Morgan has been arrested and charged with the 1st Degree Murder of James Masingil and Especially Aggravated Robbery.

A 48-year-old legless woman charged with beating a man to death from her wheelchair with a crowbar will now face a grand jury on murder charges.

A Chattanooga police detective testified today that Laura Lee Morgan claimed James Masingill, 73, first attacked her with a crowbar but she caught the weapon and beat him with it.

Afterward she took $200 from his wallet and bought crack cocaine.

He was found dead in a living room chair facing a television at their shared 3401 S. Orchard Knob Ave.

Sessions Judge Christie Mahn Sell sent the charges to the grand jury after a preliminary hearing today.
