Shannon Williams has resigned as head football coach at Ooltewah High School after three seasons. Williams said he has accepted an assistant position at Walton (Fla.) High.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Ooltewah High School and very much want to thank Mark Bean and Jim Jarvis for the opportunity they allowed me to have," Williams said. "Ooltewah is truly a special place to be, and this has been a very difficult decision to leave, but this is an opportunity that my wife and I feel that we cannot pass up.

"Ooltewah is going to be fine. The program is on solid footing and with the players we have returning along with the tremendous support from the administration, school, and community here, this should be a very attractive job for potential coaching candidates."

Ooltewah finished 9-4 last season, advancing to the Class 5A quarterfinals and Williams compiled an overall record of 21-14 with the Owls.
