BlueCross recruits Weiser
BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has recruited Pat Weiser as vice president and chief compliance officer.
Weiser previously served as chief compliance officer for Martin's Point Health Care in Portland, Maine. Before that, she served on Medicare product management and compliance teams at EmblemHealth in New York City.
"Health plans must continually review and revamp their compliance programs to be successful in today's changing health care and regulatory landscape," said J.D. Hickey, senior vice president at BlueCross.
"Pat is at the forefront of the industry and is well versed in the specialized rules and regulation surrounding health care."
Weiser is a graduate of State University at Albany (New York), Maria College nursing school and Sage Graduate School.
Ooltewah Lifecare hires Dr. Boggess
Life Care Physician Services LLC, a subsidiary of Life Care Centers of America, has placed Dr. Joy Boggess as on-site physician at the new Life Care Center of Ooltewah.
Boggess is the second doctor hired as part of Life Care's initiative to place physicians in each of Life Care Centers of America's buildings in Tennessee. Dr. Michael Crowe at Life Care Center of Collegedale was the first.
In her new position, Boggess will work with the Life Care Center of Ooltewah's interdisciplinary team, facility medical director and other attending physicians in caring for each patient. Her presence in the nursing home will enhance physician accessibility to patients and families, according to officials.
Inglis named planning manager
The Chattanoogan hotel has appointed Megan Inglis as the new conference services planning manager. She is responsible for planning and managing group meetings, conferences and events at the upscale property.
Inglis has worked as an events manager for the past seven years. She was previously employed at True North Custom Media in Chattanooga. In that role, she was responsible for planning and organizing trades shows, meetings, events and conferences in the health care and banking industries. Inglis also coordinated marketing outreach and business development efforts.
Tim Spires joins workplace board
The National Association of Workforce Development Professionals has elected Tim Spires to its board of directors.
Spires, the Chattanooga Regional Manufacturers Association's chief executive, will represent Region 4 which comprises Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Spires has 30 years experience in manufacturing, including human resources and training in domestic and global operations. He has been responsible for the start-up of new organizations, including hiring and training of personnel, development of workforce structure and policy and startup management.
River Street adds Dumsday
River Street Architecture LLC has added Justin Dumsday as lead project architect.
He brings a wealth of experience in the industry that will build upon the firm's commitment to excellence, officials said.
Dumsday is a registered architect with 17 years of experience who has designed an extensive number of projects in the Chattanooga area including East Hamilton School, River Pier Landing, Lamp Post Group offices in the Lovemans building and Fire Station 4, which was the first station designed to a LEED Gold rating in Chattanooga.
"The addition of Justin to our staff further strengthens our ability to meet the diverse needs of our clients with his knowledge of educational, civic, corporate, urban and sustainable design," said Terry Barker, principal architect.
MD News picks McCarty
True North Custom Media has selected Nancy McCarty as publisher of MD News Tennessee Valley.
She has worked within the media industry for more than 20 years, developing innovative public relations campaigns for actors, doctors and health care experts.
