Chattem
Chattanooga-based Chattem has sold its popular Bull Frog sunscreen brand to a Florida company, officials said today.
Sun & Skin Care Research of Cocoa, Fla., completed the acquisition from Chattem, which is the U.S. consumer health care division of drug giant Sanofi.
Steve Taylor, chief executive officer of Sun & Skin Care Research, said in a statement that Bull Frog is an iconic brand.
He said the product “will respond positively to our laser focus on the sun care category and our commitment to growing brands through innovation, advertising and best-in-class retail service.”
Robert Long, Chattem’s chief financial officer, said Bullfrog didn’t fit with the company’s portfolio of products and the sale will result in no job losses for the Chattanooga business.
“It was a portfolio divestiture,” he said.
