TSSAA Hall of Fame adding Johnny Grimes, Jack Harlow, the Parkers

Former Marion County principal and coach Johnny Grimes is among the 12 new members to be inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame. Also in this year's class are former Bradley Central girls' basketball coach Jack Harlow as well as former East Ridge and Red Bank wrestling coach Mike Parker and his wife, Karen, who has managed the Division II state wrestling brackets for more than 10 years.

The induction ceremony will be held April 20 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Murfreesboro.

Grimes is in his 44th year in education, having served most of that time at Marion County, where he also played. Through the years he coached five sports and served as assistant principal and principal at his alma mater. He is now the county's curriculum director.

Harlow has coached girls' basketball for nearly 40 years and took teams from three schools -- Franklin County, Columbia Central and Bradley -- to the Class AAA state tournament. He also coached at Shelbyville High before retiring in 2006 and now is a volunteer girls' coach at Franklin County.

Mike and Karen Parker worked together at the state wrestling tournaments for nearly 20 years. Mike has served as a coach, official and tournament director of the TSSAA state championships. He also coached football, wrestling and tennis for four years at Red Bank and East Ridge, and his East Ridge wresting squad won the state championship in 1975.

He was a wrestling official for 19 years before becoming the assigning officer for the Chattanooga association. He and Karen began administering the individual and dual state tournaments in 1997.
