An elderly woman died in an early morning accident today in Bradley County.

Bradley County Emergency Medical Service was notified of the accident in the 1600 block of Dry Valley Road at 5:22 a.m.

When responders arrived they found a car about 25 feet from the roadway in a field on its top. It was unclear when the accident may have occurred, officials said.

A bystander driving by found the accident and called authorities. When emergency responders arrived on scene they found the driver, a 75-year-old woman, approximately 8 feet from the car on the ground. Officials said they were unsure if she had been ejected or was somehow able to exit on her own.

The patient was transported to Sky Ridge Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The accident is under investigation.
