Regional school leaders join new standards initiative

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Several school administrators from Southeast Tennessee will serve on a statewide leadership council to help Tennessee schools transition to the Common Core State Standards.

Those standards are considered more universal and rigorous. So far, 45 states and the District of Columbia have committed to fully implementing the new curriculum.

The local administrators joining the 22-member panel include Jamie Parris, director of secondary math and science at Hamilton County Schools; Martin Ringstaff, director of Cleveland City Schools; and Amanda Hill Vance, special education supervisor for Monroe County Schools.
