DeKalb County traffic stops led to a number of drug arrests on Tuesday, according to a news release.

Glenn Wayne Childress, 49, of Dawson was pulled over by a Fyffe officer on a traffic violation. The officer noticed a red-and-black handbag containing a purple Crown Royal bag. Later in the stop, the officer noted that the bag had disappeared. After a search of Childress' maroon blazer, the officer found a variety of prescription medication. Childress was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Childress is currently out of jail on bond on other drug charges, the release said.

Jammie Lynn Harrell, 36, of Rainsville, was also arrested on an outstanding warrant. Harrell was charged with possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy stopped Rogelio Juan Santiago for a traffic violation on Highway 68 and County Road 478. The deputy reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana as he approached the vehicle, according to the release. The deputy searched the vehicle and found a bag of spice and marijuana, a spice cigarette and beer. Santiago, 18, of Crossville, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of imitation drugs, possession of marijuana second and possession of tax-paid alcoholic beverages. Santiago was taken to DeKalb County Detention Center, where officers discovered marijuana hidden in Santiago's sock.

Santiago was then charged with another possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and promoting prison contraband second.
