A Dalton house fire left two people injured early this morning.
The Dalton Fire Department responded to 217 Griffin Street about 12 a.m., according to a news release.
Firefighters forced their way through the front door while other members of the crew ventilated the home by cutting a hole in the roof, the news release stated.
The company found an unconscious male in cardiac arrest in the front bedroom and a female victim in the back bedroom. Firefighters removed both from the house.
The victims were transported to Hamilton Medical Center and were later flown to an Augusta burn center.
Officials say the fire began on a sofa in the living room. Investigators also learned that one of the men at the house was a smoker.
Fire crews are investigating the cause of the fire, the news release stated. According to Fire Chief Bruce Satterfield, there were no working smoke detectors in the home.
No further details about the victims’ condition are currently available.
