It may not be as quick as a trip to the hardware store, but a stop at the 47th annual Tri-State Home Show could save you time in the long run.

Whether you're contemplating new landscaping, a kitchen or bath makeover, replacement windows or a larger construction project, the 470 vendor booths inside the Chattanooga Convention Center should be able to handle whatever's on your to-do list -- whether the job is do-it-yourself or hired out.

According to the Home Builders Association of Greater Chattanooga, the 100,000-square-foot exhibition hall will be filled Friday through Sunday, Feb. 22-24, with the latest products and services on the market.

The list covers a range of maintenance and remodeling needs, starting with the basics: windows, doors, siding, painting, roofing, gutters and air-conditioning.

For kitchen and bath projects, there will be experts who can help with cabinets, countertops, appliances, tile and flooring.

For outdoor living, vendors can offer advice on landscaping, swimming pools, outdoor fireplaces and kitchens, lighting, decks, sunrooms and pergolas.

Realtors will be on hand to help anyone wishing to buy or sell property. Finance companies will offer solutions on financing a home or remodeling project.

While Mom and Dad peruse the booths, kids can be entertained with activities throughout the weekend, including glitter tattoos and a balloon artist. On Saturday, NASCAR driver John Andretti will appear from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Star Wars characters will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Sunday, Looie the Lookout will have free tickets for kids to see a Lookouts game this season (while supplies last).

A portion of proceeds from the show benefits the Chattanooga Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. Donations of canned goods on Saturday and Sunday will go to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. Many vendors offer giveaways and prize drawings. A grand-prize drawing will award $25,000 to a lucky ticketholder.
