THINGS I WISH MY KIDS WOULD ASK ME

EDITOR'S NOTE: Barry Courter has a 23-year-old son who graduated from college last year and a 19-year-old daughter who is a freshman in college.

Q: Dad, what is on your mind after attending the funeral of a close friend this week?

A: It's so cliché, but there is usually a lot of truth behind clichés. No one is guaranteed a tomorrow. That, and it was very moving and powerful to hear people talk about how the person had influenced and touched so many people in positive ways. That should be everyone's goal.
