The Tennessee Wesleyan men's basketball team stretched its winning streak to 17 games with an 85-83 escape of Milligan in the semifinals of the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament Friday in Kingsport, Tenn., but the second-seeded Wesleyan women lost 65-53 to third seed Union College and wound up 18-11 for the season.

Milligan's top-seeded Lady Buffs also lost, 61-52 to fifth seed Reinhardt, but have a berth already in the NAIA Division II national tournament in Sioux City, Iowa. April Besley from Dalton had 10 rebounds and four steals for Reinhardt (18-14).

The third-seeded Bryan College men beat second seed Point 57-51 in the last game Friday and will play TWC in today's final.

Amber Taylor scored 30 points and two-time AAC player of the year Lindsey Waters had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Union (21-9), which forced TWC into 23 turnovers and held the Athens team to 20 percent shooting in the second half. For Wesleyan, Heather Gibson had 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists and Courtney Gobble had 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Cody Houck grabbed eight rebounds.

Zamarius McClendon had 24 points and 11 rebounds for the TWC men (24-7), who got 17 points from Desmond Crisp and 11 assists and five steals from AAC player of the year E'Jay Ward. Cartree Pettis had 24 points and nine assists for Milligan.

Robert Riley scored 14 points and Derrick Walker had 12 points, 12 rebounds and five assists for Bryan's Lions (15-15).

Meanwhile, both Sewanee teams ended their seasons in the Southern Athletic Association tournament quarterfinals, losing 64-33 in Jackson, Miss., to the host Millsaps women and 59-53 to the Oglethorpe men in Danville, Ky. Tyler Brown had 12 points and 13 rebounds and Valentino Bryant had 11 points and four assists for the Sewanee guys, who wound up 17-9.
