Jackson County reports number of weekend drug arrests

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has reported it conducted a number drug arrests within the last couple of days.

A traffic stop on Alabama Highway 35 and County Road 11 in Limrock, Ala., last Friday led to the arrest of Joseph David Smith, 34, of Woodville, Ala. Smith was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana second degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on $1,000 bond.

The sheriff's department's narcotics unit last Friday went to a residence on County Road 416 in Dutton, Ala., where Floyd Bradley Bryant, 42, of Dutton, was served with arrest warrants for unlawful possession of controlled substances and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. When he was taken to the Jackson County Jail, officials located clonazepam, a methamphetamine pipe and unprescribed prescription medications on him, a release said. He was then charged with illegal possession of prescription medications, unlawful possession of controlled substances, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, promoting prison contraband second degree and promoting prison contraband third degree. Bryant continues in the jail with no bond set for his release.

A call to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office on Friday about a drunk driver on Highway 35 in Section, Ala., led to a traffic stop in which Cody Duane Lewis was arrested for DUI, reckless driving and unlawful possession of controlled substances. Lewis is still in the Jackson County Jail.

A traffic stop on Saturday in connection with a traffic violation on Highway 35 in Section led to the arrest of three people. Megan Emerson, 24, of Flat Rock, Ala., was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana second degree and illegal possession of alcoholic beverages. Emerson was released on $1,000 bond.

Blair Kenimer, 21, of Pisgah, Ala., was later released on $1,000 bond after having been arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana second degree and illegal possession of alcoholic beverages.

The third person arrested, Britney Mercedes Gant, 23, of Rainsville, Ala., was released on $8,000 bond after being arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana second degree, illegal possession of alcoholic beverages and two counts of possession of controlled substances.

Also on Saturday, members of the sheriff's department went to a home on Cemetery Street in Section to serve an arrest warrant on Tristan Dana Corbitt for failure to appear on a probation violation and on alcohol charges.

During a search, a news release said a small amount of methamphetamine was located and a later search led to synthetic cannibinoids and drug paraphernalia.

The search led to the arrest of two people. Corbitt, 27, of Section, was charged with unlawful possession of controlled substances, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and the outstanding arrest warrants. Corbitt continues in jail. Jodi Medlock, 21, of Dutton, Ala., was released later on $5,000 bond after being charged with unlawful possession of controlled substances and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
