TV crew leads deputies to shooting suspect in Williamson County

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The search for a Williamson County schools maintenance worker got help from a television station news crew.

Deputies arrested Jeff Vaughn late Sunday night after his wife was treated for wounds caused by shotgun pellets and flying glass. Police said Vaughn shot at his wife and their children as they got into a car Saturday evening. The children weren't hurt.

At about 10 p.m. Sunday, a WTVF-TV (http://bit.ly/VHS3ON ) reporter and photographer were covering the story when they spotted a man matching Vaughn's description and called the sheriff's office.

Sheriff Jeff Long credited the station with leading deputies to Vaughn, who was arrested without incident and was not armed.

School had been called off countywide because Vaughn had access to school buildings. Classes are not meeting today.
