Michelle Obama announces new Web effort for Let’s Move campaign

First lady Michelle Obama has roped in five large media companies and Pinterest to help support her Let’s Move! Initiative.

Condé Nast, Hearst Magazines, Meredith, Food Network and Time, Inc. in collaboration with the Partnership for a Healthier America and USDA’s MyPlate have identified thousands of recipes that meet the guidance that supports USDA’s MyPlate, according to a news release.

The recipes will be listed on the companies’ websites, the release said, and more than 3,000 recipes have been identified across 18 websites.

As of today, nearly 1,000 of these recipes are on a new Pinterest page associated with the effort, providing a one-stop-shop where parents, beginner home cooks and even the most experienced chefs can find and share healthier recipes.

“As a mom, I know how challenging it can be to think of new meal ideas that your kids will like and that will be good for them,” Obama said in the release. “This partnership takes the guess work out of finding healthier recipes and gives parents the information and the tools they need to make healthy choices for their families every day.”

Let’s Move is designed to address childhood obesity through healthy eating, exercise and education.
