Local attorney McCracken Poston seeks inquiry of FBI agent

Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk says he won't ask for an investigation into whether his officers improperly helped an FBI agent who is now under federal investigation.

Last week, local attorney McCracken Poston asked Sisk to bring in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to look into whether FBI Agent Ken Hillman had abused his authority with sheriff's office employees.

Poston alleged that Hillman had been pulled over at least twice under suspicion of drinking and driving, but nothing was done.

Sisk, who didn't respond to multiple requests for comment on Tuesday, released a prepared statement today saying his office hasn't done anything wrong.

"Mr. Poston did not allege any wrongdoing involving employees at the Catoosa County Sheriff's office," Sisk said in his statement.

Sisk said it wouldn't be a wise expense of the taxpayers' money to investigate Hillman when it does not affect the duty of the sheriff's office.

Hillman is a central figure in a Ringgold, Ga., Police Department Investigation for his involvement in persuading a police sergeant to leave his post last October and drive Hillman and the women he was with - local businessman Emerson Russell's wife Angela Russell and their daughter, Katherine - from a nightspot in Ringgold to a Chattanooga apartment.

Hillman, who operates the Northwest Georgia Crimes Against Children Task Force, is also under an FBI internal investigation.
