Hamilton County Finance Administrator Louis Wright remained hospitalized Tuesday after a suspected heart attack he suffered Monday.
County Commission Chairman Larry Henry said Wright, 63, was in the intensive care unit at Erlanger hospital recovering from "surgery to repair a tear."
"He had the attack Monday morning in the shower as he was getting ready to go to work," Henry said.
Wright was listed in critical condition Tuesday afternoon, according to the hospital.
Mayor Jim Coppinger said Tuesday he could not speak specifically about Wright's condition, citing federal health care privacy laws.
"He has made improvements over the last 24 hours, but his condition continues to be extremely serious," Coppinger said.
In an internal memo sent Tuesday, Coppinger's office asked county staff to "keep Louis and his family in your thoughts and prayers."
Wright joined the county auditing department 37 years ago and then moved to finance before becoming the department administrator.
