Art prints available at studio opening

Garuda Screenprinting will host an opening reception at its new location, 149B River St. in North Chattanooga, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1.

Original art prints created by Mike Lester, Garuda's proprietor, will be on display, and editions will be available for sale. Refreshments will be provided by The Farmer's Daughter, a North Chattanooga restaurant scheduled to open this spring.

Garuda Screenprinting was begun by Ohio native Mike Lester in the summer of 2011, offering custom screenprinting services from a single-room studio in St. Elmo. Within a few months, Lester had outgrown the small workspace and relocated to the basement of a North Shore gift shop. While in this space, he built up a list of clients that include local restaurants (Good Dog, Blacksmith's Bistro & Bar), events (Old Time Fiddlers Convention, CreateHere's 10x10) and entrepreneurs (Blake Porter of Tag You're It Apparel).

The latest move to North Chattanooga doubles Lester's workspace, enabling him to offer exhibits, printing demonstrations and workshops in the future.

The studio/retail shop is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Garuda may be contacted at info@garudascreenprinting.com. The website is www.garudascreenprinting.com.
