Bar-Kays bring the funk to Mocha

The Bar-Kays, a Memphis-based soul, R&B and funk group that recently performed at inauguration ceremonies for President Obama, will perform at 6 and 10 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Mocha Restaurant & Music Lounge, 3116 Brainerd Road.

Doors open at 5 and 9:30 p.m. for this First Friday show.

The group hit the charts in 1967 with “Soul Finger,” later scoring hits with “Son of Shaft,” “Too Hot To Stop” and “Holy Ghost,” among others. Their most recent single is “Grown Folks.”
