The Bookmark Fairy, aka Rabbit Zielke, expects to have some famous company when the United Way of Greater Chattanooga culminates its weeklong celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday on Saturday, March 2, at Hamilton Place, 2100 Hamilton Place Blvd.
The Cat in the Hat will visit for all Read Across Chattanooga events, part of the National Education Association’s Read Across America Week.
The observance also includes book readings from 6 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 28, and Friday, March 1, at the mall’s Center Court.
Saturday’s celebration, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include snacks, free book enrollments, arts and crafts, and a free book for the first 500 children who visit. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., children who get a learning checkup at the Emerson Russell Play Area in the mall will receive a free family pass to the Creative Discovery Museum.
