Volkswagen on target for U.S. sales goal

Volkswagen AG Chief Executive Martin Winterkorn indicated the car-maker may reach its goal of selling 10 million cars a year earlier than the target year of 2018, Die Zeit reports in a pre-release of an article to be published today.

"Ten million cars are actually already in the foreseeable future possible," Winterkorn is quoted as saying.

Europe's largest car-maker is counting on selling 1 million vehicles in the United States by 2018.


Motorola official to lead session

Imran Akbar, Motorola's vice president and general manager of enterprise networks and communications, will give the keynote address at the Enterprise Center's technology transfer conference April 17.

Akbar has more than 20 years of experience in the communications and information technology industries. Previously, Akbar served as director of business strategy and global industries development for Unisys.

Opening the conference will be E. Keats Webb with the Smithsonian Museum's Conservation Institute.
