University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior golfer Steven Fox is teaming with World No. 1-ranked amateur Chris Williams of the University of Washington for the United States in the Copa de las Americas competition today through Sunday at the Doral Resort and Spa in Miami, Fla. Duke's Lindy Duncan and California's Erynne Lee are the Team USA women in the 72-hole competition that will declare men's and women's and overall champions for North America, South America, Central America and the Caribbean. The event began in 2003 in Puerto Rico and was held again in 2005 in Mexico, 2007 in Canada and 2010 in Argentina with the Americans winning the last two women's and overall titles and the men's in '07 with Webb Simpson and Jonathan Moore. Fox, who won the 2012 U.S. Amateur Championship, joined Williams and Alabama's Justin Thomas in winning the Eisenhower Trophy at the 2012 World Amateur Team Championship in October.

Basketball

• The Covenant College men's basketball team returned to official competition Wednesday afternoon with a 78-65 win against visiting Crown College of Minnesota. Senior Jon DeVries scored a career-high 30 points, including 12-of-16 shooting from the floor. He also grabbed eight rebounds. T.J. Cox scored his 11 points in the first half and he also had five of the Scots' season-high 20 assists. Sam Bowman finished with 10 points for Covenant (5-4), which outscored Crown (4-5) by a 41-26 margin in the second half.

• The Tennessee Wesleyan men's basketball team lost to Voorhees 83-65 on Wednesday in the Embry-Riddle Classic at Daytona Beach, Fla.\
