A 23-year-old man is in the Hamilton County Jail after his arrest in connection with a burglary at an Ooltewah home on Wednesday night.

Tyler Baker is charged with aggravated burglary, theft over $2,000 and aggravated criminal trespassing. He is under a $10,000 bond and has a Feb. 21 court date, according to a news release from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Offce.

Sheriff's officers received a call for help from the owner of a home at 7004 Tenderfoot Trail at about 10:22 p.m., the news release stated. Garrett Whitson told deputies that while he was preparing to load up his vehicle with duck hunting gear, he realized someone was in the garage. He called out to his father for help at the same time the suspect ran from the garage, the news release stated.

Authorities said the suspect, dressed in black clothes, was seen getting into a 2006 white four-door Ford Fusion with tinted windows. An individual who was driving by the home at the time followed the Fusion until the car stopped a block from the victim's home, the news release stated. Authorities said the suspect got out of the vehicle and had a shotgun that he handed to the person who had followed him.

Deputies took Baker into custody.

The shotgun, along with other electronic equipment found in the suspect's vehicle, was identified as belonging to the victim, authorities said.
