University of Tennessee at Chattanooga linebacker Muhasibi Wakeel was arrested by UTC police late Sunday night and defensive end Keyon Reed was arrested today after an incident at Boling Apartments.
Wakeel was charged with assault on a police officer and disorderly conduct for physically and verbally interrupting the two arresting officers’ efforts to converse with and control Reed, who spent Sunday night under observation at Erlanger Hospital. Reed had marijuana in his system, according to the UTC arrest report, and was charged with assault on a police officer.
Mocs coach Russ Huesman, who is in Nashville for the AFCA coaches convention, is aware of the incident. He said through a UTC spokesman that he would not comment until he had more information. Both players have been suspended indefinitely.
A redshirt sophomore this season, Wakeel had 12 tackles and primarily played on special teams. Reed, also a redshirt sophomore, had six tackles.
