'Designing Spaces' episode on Chattanooga's McKamey Animal Center airs

The Lifetime Network will begin airing the "Designing Spaces" episodes it shot here focusing on the McKamey Animal Center this morning at 7:30.

The second and third episodes will air at 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 17 and 24, respectively. They will be shown again on March 14, 21 and 28.

Similar to home makeover programs such as "Extreme Makeover," "Designing Spaces" focuses on businesses. Producers were drawn to McKamey, which opened in 2008, after seeing YouTube videos of Winston, the police-car-eating pit bull, who was taken to the center after his escapade.

The production crew was here in the fall to film workers as they finished some areas of the center and improved others. Some of the pet holding areas, for example, had the original wallboard removed and replaced by tile, which is easier to clean and maintain.

In addition to filming at the center, crews shot around town and some of those segments will be included in the episodes, according to producers.
