Girl Scout cookie sale starts today

Troop members in the Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians will begin taking orders today in their annual cookie sale.

Eight cookie varieties will be sold through Feb. 10. All cookies are $3.50 per box. Customers who don't have a Girl Scout in their neighborhood may order online at a new website, IWantCookies.org.

Also new this year, customers may purchase and donate cookies to members of the Army National Guard and Air National Guard from Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia through the "Building a Mountain of Hope" program.

Cookie deliveries and booth sales will occur March 1 through March 24.
