Chattanooga firefighters from eight companies needed 45 minutes to get a commercial fire near Amnicola Highway under control Thursday night, spokesman Bruce Garner said in a release Friday.

The fire started about 9 p.m. at Zeco Inc., 4146 South Creek Road. The building was closed for the day and no one was there when the blaze started, Garner said. No one was injured.

The first firefighters arrived to find the entire back of the building engulfed in flames. The firefighters cut through a chain-link fence to get close to the building and started to spray water onto the roof of the building, Garner said.

Firefighters then used a metal-cutting power saw to get into the building and used hoses to attack the fire from inside.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the estimated cost of the damage has not been determined.
