Tennessee brothers who killed deputy arrested

KNOXVILLE — Two Tennessee brothers who killed a sheriff’s deputy and a civilian in a shootout but were never convicted of a crime have been arrested on a sealed federal warrant.

WATE-TV reports Clifford and Rocky Houston of Ten Mile were arrested Friday night and taken to the Knox County jail.

U.S. Attorney William Killian says charges will be unsealed when the brothers appear in court.

The Houstons killed Roane County Deputy Bill Jones and ride-along friend Mike Brown in 2006 when they went to serve an outstanding arrest warrant for Rocky Houston.

The brothers insisted the men came to kill them. Prosecutors were unable to prove who shot first and the brothers were never convicted.

Last year, the brothers posted photos from the shootout on a sign on their property.
