Cornerstone names promotions
Cornerstone Community Bank has promoted three of its officers.
Gary Petty, who started with Cornerstone in January 2000, was named an executive vice president. He has 17 years experience in banking and is Cornerstone's chief financial officer.
J. Robert (Bob) Vercoe has been named an executive vice president. He joined Cornerstone as chief credit officer in November 2010, and he has more than 30 years experience.
Charles Millirons has been named as senior vice president. He has more than 17 years of banking experience and more than 22 years of business lending experience, including extensive experience in Small Business Administration financing.
ASP sets record, gets franchise award
ASP of Chattanooga has been named franchise of the year by America's Swimming Pool Co.
"ASP of Chattanooga is incredibly deserving of this award," said Stewart Vernon, the company's chief executive.
John Baldschun and Jesse Pettit launched the franchise in 2009. They reached over $200,000 in gross sales their first year, which was a company-wide record that still stands.
Morning Pointe of Athens honored
Morning Pointe of Athens, Tenn., has received the Facility of the Year Award from Independent Healthcare Properties and Morning Pointe Assisted Living. "You can feel the energy of love and compassion when you walk into our community in Athens," said Greg A. Vital, chief executive of IHP and Morning Pointe.
Kim Baker, the facility's executive director, also was cited. In addition, Morning Pointe of Hixson and Morning Pointe of Collegedale at Greenbriar Cove were recognized for their work in operations and customer service.
AP1000 operators trained in China
Despite initial delays in building its first U.S. AP1000 reactor at Plant Vogtle in Georgia, Westinghouse Electric Co., completed its on-time installation of the simulate for the new reactor at China's Sanmen and Haiyang nuclear power plants. Training of the first class of 34 reactor operators in China to operate the AP1000 at the Sanmen site is complete. Prospective Sanmen operators studied for 18 months to take operator license examinations with the China National Nuclear Safety Administration in November. "We achieved these key delivery and training milestones with the help of our China partners and customers," said William Poirier, vice president, Westinghouse China AP1000 Projects.
Southern Nuclear is building a similar Westinghouse AP1000 reactor at Plant Vogtle and will soon begin training operators.
YPAC seeks 2013 nominations
The Young Professionals Association of Chattanooga is accepting nominations for its 2013 YP Awards, which recognize notable young professionals and YP friendly businesses and organizations in the Chattanooga area. The event will be held in place of YPAC's monthly business development luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 22 at the DoubleTree Hotel. Categories are Young Professional of the Year, YP-Friendly Business of the Year, YP Artist of the Year, YP Entrepreneur of the Year and the YP Civic Impact Award.
