Dalton police investigate drive-by shooting

The Dalton Police Department is investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon at a house on Dozier Street, according to a news release.

Police were tipped before the 2:45 p.m. incident and were close enough to hear the shots fired, police spokesman Bruce Frazier said in the release.

Officers stopped two SUVs leaving the area but were unable to locate any suspects. No one was hurt, Frazier said.

Shell casings were recovered from the street in front of a duplex at 1207 and 1209 Dozier St. One round was recovered in a tree in front of the building and another struck the front of unit 1207. Investigators believe the 1209 unit was the target of the shooting and that it could be related to drug activity.
