The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team picked up its eighth commitment on Saturday from Peach County (Ga.) High School tight end Malcolm Colvin.

One of 11 recruits that took official visits to UTC this weekend, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Colvin said he didn't need to wait any longer to tell the Mocs he wanted to play for UTC.

"It was kind of easy," he said of the decision. "Since the summer they've been recruiting me and showing me the most love out of everybody. Once I took my visit, I kind of knew then that was it."

A member of the Macon Telegraph's All-Middle Georgia first-team offense, Colvin was primarily used as a blocker. He had six receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns as a senior.

Colvin said he liked how UTC used it's tight ends in the passing game. Redshirt sophomore Faysal Shafaat was second-team All-Southern Conference this season after catching 37 passes.

Long before visiting UTC, Colvin said, the Mocs were his top choice. He picked UTC over The Citadel and Jacksonville State.

Colvin is UTC's eight commitment, including early enrollee Hunter Townson and transfer Channing Smith, putting the Mocs halfway to their anticipated class of 16. National signing day is Feb. 6.
