Biz Briefs: Double Cola bringing back ginger ale

Double Cola bringing back ginger ale

The Double Cola Co. is reviving its original brand.

The Chattanooga-based soft drink company said Thursday it should have its Double-Cola Ginger Ale on grocery shelves again in Chattanooga and a dozen other U.S. markets within the month. Double Cola expects the revived drink, which Double Cola originally made in the 1930s, will draw more youthful consumers. The drink is made from real ginger and 100 percent natural flavors.

"We're very excited to reintroduce the iconic brand into the market," company sales director Mitch Reed said. "With the recent growth of ginger ale and the taste quality of Double-Cola, response has been positive all around from consumers and distributors."

Signal Energy ranked No. 2

Signal Energy, a Chattanooga-based design/build general contractor providing engineering, procurement and construction services to the North American renewable energy industry, has been named the No. 2 solar installer of 2012 by Solar Power World magazine.

The "Top 100 Solar Contractors" list cites public and privately owned companies according to annual and total solar photovoltaic megawatt installations.

The recognition "honors our extensive track record in renewable energy project management and construction," said Ben Fischer, CEO of Signal Energy.

CBL renovating three more malls

CBL & Associates Properties Inc. will complete multimillion-dollar renovations at three of its malls in 2013, the Chattanooga-based company announced Thursday.

Projects are scheduled for completion this year at Friendly Center in Greensboro, N.C.; Greenbrier Mall in Chesapeake, Va.; and The Mall of Acadiana in Lafayette, La.

"Renovating our malls is an ongoing priority for CBL," said Stephen Lebovitz, the company's chief executive. "These enhancements ensure that each mall remains a top shopping destination, attracting great new retail and restaurant names and creating a shopping experience that consumers will enjoy."
