Investigators have arrested 21-year-old Thomas Shirley after an apartment fire early this morning in East Ridge.
East Ridge firefighters responded to a call at Spring Creek Garden Apartments at 950 Spring Creek Rd. at 1:24 a.m.
First units on the scene reported a working fire in apartment 122 and heavy smoke on the first and second floor.
Firefighters rescued people on the second floor and were able to contain the fire to apartment 122. No injuries were reported.
Shirley was charged with Aggravated Arson, Attempted Murder and Reckless Endangerment. He was also charged in connection to an auto theft which occurred this morning at the same apartments. Police say Shirley crashed the vehicle into a building at the intersection of Shallowford Rd. and Standifer Gap Rd.
