NASHVILLE — Hamilton County’s state legislative delegation has a new chairman.
The seven-member group this week elected Rep. Vince Dean, R-East Ridge, as its head. The chairman often serves as a point of contact for local officials and groups in their dealings with county legislators, scheduling meetings and often appears as the public face of the delegation in the news media.
Dean, a retired police lieutenant and former East Ridge mayor, has served in the House since 2006.
Earlier this month, he became House Transportation Committee chairman.
