Former Chattanooga Mayor Gene Roberts has died.
Prior to becoming Chattanooga's mayor, Roberts served as Chattanooga City Police Commissioner. He also was previously a journalist and had served as associate editor of the Chattanooga Times. He was also state safety commissioner.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home in Hixson.
