More than 1,500 still without power in Gordon County

Approximately 1,700 North Georgia EMC customers in Gordon County are still without power after Wednesday's storms.

Many areas were initially impassable due to trees and debris in road ways and on power lines, limiting the crews' access and slowing restoration efforts, NGEMC said in a news release.

Crews worked throughout the night and have restored power to more than half of the customers who were impacted by the storms.

NGEMC said efforts will continue today to replace more than 100 utility poles and to re-build spans of power lines that were damaged by the storm.
