Chattanooga plans to close some roads over next couple of days for special events

The Chattanooga Transportation Department has announced a number of roads will be closed over the next couple of days.

In a news release, the department said all entrances to Coolidge Park will be closed on Wednesday from 4 to 10 p.m. for the Pops On the River July 4th celebration. It was stated that there won't be any handicapped parking inside Coolidge Park. Also, buses will transport event attendees from the Unum Group parking lots from 6 to 11 p.m. Additionally, there will be parking at Renaissance Park but with no bus service transportation to Coolidge Park. The entrance from Renaissance Park to Coolidge Park will also be closed.

The release said Maryland Street, between Hamilton and North Market streets, will be closed Thursday from 3 to 11 p.m. for a July 4th celebration.

Also, East 18th Street, between Adams and Jefferson streets and Zachary Alley from East 18th Street to Quincy Alley, will be closed Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m. ofor a July 4th celebration.

The 2000 block of Duncan Avenue, between Beech and South Willow streets, will be closed Thursday from 6 p.m. to midnight ofor a July 4th celebration.

M.L. King Boulevard between Market Street and Georgia Avenue and Market Street between East Eighth Street and King Boulevard will be closed Friday from 5:30 p.m. to midnight for the Nightfall Concert Series. The 800 block of Cherry Street will be closed at King Boulevard and will only be accessible from East Eighth Street.

The part of River Street from Coolidge Park connecting to Renaissance Park will be closed Saturday from 6 to 11:30 p.m. for First Things First Movies In The Park. Accommodations will be made for Riverboat patrons entering from Renaissance Park.

Reggie White Boulevard between West 19th Street and the entrance to the Skate Park will be closed Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the Chattanooga Market.
