Sevier grand jury won't indict former officers

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - A grand jury in Sevier County has declined to indict three former Pigeon Forge police officers on criminal charges.

According to The Mountain Press, District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn confirmed that evidence against Trinity Brown, Jefferson Thigpen and Michael Musgrove was presented to the panel on Tuesday.

Dunn said that even though a police car dashboard recording caught the three talking about killing other police officers, the investigation found no indication the conversation was acted upon. The department fired them.

Both Dunn and the U.S. attorney's office in East Tennessee had declined to prosecute. Individuals can take cases directly to grand juries. The newspaper said Dunn and Pigeon Forge Police Chief Jack Baldwin were seen walking into the grand jury room Tuesday morning. Baldwin declined comment later.
