Summer reading deadline at library - July 13-27

Thursday, July 11, 2013

Chattanooga Public Library is having kids "Dig Into Reading" during summer vacation, but this year there's a twist: It's not all about books.

This year, kids are following a game board, with "Read or write a poem" and "Learn a new word" among the 27 tasks to be completed. Children move along the game board in three phases, each time following the instructions for nine squares. When nine are completed, participants take the game board into the library and pick up a prize.

Kids can substitute the instructions on any square with "Read aloud for 20 minutes."

The last day to register for "Dig Into Reading" is Saturday, July 13. Completed game boards are due back Wednesday, July 24. The grand finale will be held 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at First Tennessee Pavilion.

The game board may be picked up at any branch or downloaded from the library's website, chattlibrary.org/content/dig-reading. Registration also may be completed online.
