Chattanooga announces some road closings for the weekend

The Chattanooga Transportation Department has announced that some roads will be closed over the weekend.

A news release said a part of River Street that goes from Coolidge Park to Renaissance Park will be closed Saturday from 6 to 11:30 p.m. for First Things First Movies in the Park.

It was stated that accommodations will take place for riverboat patrons who enter from Renaissance Park.

The release said Riverfront Parkway between Chestnut Street and Power Alley will be closed on Saturday at 8 a.m. in connection with the setup for the Chattanooga Waterfront Duathlon.

On Sunday beginning at 5 a.m., the southbound curb lane and ramp of the Veterans Bridge will be closed. Riverfront Parkway from Aquarium Way to M.L. King Boulevard, the south bound exit ramp of Highway 27 at King Boulevard and the inside lanes of north and southbound Highway 27/29 from the M.L. King exit ramps to just south of Highway 29 at Dayton Pike, will be closed until 10:30 a.m. north and southbound vehicular traffic on Highway 27/29 will be detoured off and back on to the highway in the vicinity of the King Boulevard and Fourth Street ramps. The southbound entrance ramp from Fourth Street to Highway 27/29 will be closed; Chestnut Street and Power Alley from Second Street to Riverfront Parkway will be closed. King Boulevard will be closed to Grove Street. Riverfront Parkway, Boynton Drive and Gateway Avenue will be closed at King Boulevard. Roads will open as they become available. With the exception of Riverfront Parkway between Chestnut Street and Power Alley, which will be open by approximately 6 p.m., all streets should be open by 3 p.m., the release said.

Reggie White Boulevard between West 19th Street and the entrance to the Skate Park will be closed Sunday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on for the Chattanooga Market.
