New Eagle Scout

Blaine Joseph Dufrene of Troop 115 was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a recent Court of Honor.

He has been a Scout for 12 years, earned 34 merit badges, attended summer camps at Skymont Scout Reservation and participated in the National Scout Jamboree 100th anniversary in Virginia.

The son of Bryan and Rachel Dufrene, he is a graduate of Dade County High School and a member of The Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

For the community service project required of every Eagle Scout, he removed shelving and supplies from the food pantry at Our Lady of Perpetual Help's parish life center, painted the pantry walls and ceiling. He then returned the shelves to the pantry with food arranged to make it easier for distribution. He also made and installed a small table that can be used when stocking the pantry, and devised a system through which the parish office will be aware of how much food is on hand.
