PEARL, Miss. — The Mississippi Braves beat visiting Chattanooga for the fourth night in a row Saturday, 7-1, dropping the Lookouts to 10-13 in the Southern League's second half and to 45-48 overall.
Miguel Rojas and Jan Vazquez singled to lead off the third inning for Chattanooga, with a Rafael Ynoa groundout scoring Rojas, but the Lookouts failed to manage a hit after the fifth inning.
The Braves took control in the sixth, when Dan Brewer, Jose Martinez and Tommy LaStella singled to load the bases and Robby Hefflinger followed with a two-run single to left field. Lookouts relief pitcher Michael Thomas threw a wild pitch to bring in another Mississippi run in the sixth, and Jaime Pedroza's two-run triple to right highlighted a four-run eighth for the Braves.
The five-game series ends tonight, starting at 6 EDT. Duke von Schamann (2-1, 3.65) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with Aaron Northcraft (3-8, 4.30) listed for the Braves.
