GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. — Authorities say a third person has died after a pickup truck carrying a group of children overturned on a highway in Guntersville.
WAFF-TV reports that six others were injured in the Sunday afternoon wreck.
Authorities say the truck was carrying nine passengers -—including several children — when it flipped on U.S. Highway 431. The other car involved in the crash was carrying two passengers, who weren’t injured.
Names of the three people who died haven’t been released.
Gadsden resident Chuck Harrison told AL.com the truck passed him just before the crash and looked like it was carrying a group of children who had gone swimming. Harrison said the children spilled from the back of the truck as it began flipping on the highway.
Guntersville is about 35 miles northwest of Gadsden.
