Contemporary Christian singer and evangelist Carman will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, July 19, at Oasis Revival Center, 175 Shadden Lane off Highway 60, in Birchwood.

His 60-city tour, which also stopped in Dalton, Ga., last month, is the first time the entertainer has been on the road in nearly 13 years, according to reports. It follows his diagnosis of multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells, and a prognosis that gives the entertainer three to five years to live.

Born Carmelo Domenic Licciardello in New Jersey in 1956, the performer has sold more than 10 million albums, won several Dove Awards and garnered three Grammy nominations since beginning his career in 1982. He also has appeared on film, is a published author and writes and produces his own movies.

He says, however, that his passion remains evangelism, and he personally ministers to those who attend his concerts seeking prayer and counseling.

Tickets to Friday's concert are $15 and $25 plus fees at www.carman.org (click on Upcoming Events).
