Nashville songwriter in Mentone series — July 18

The Kamama Music Series, a twice monthly musical event presented at Kamama Gallery, 5951 Highway 117, in Mentone, Ala., continues its Summer Music Series at 7 p.m. CDT today, July 18, with Sally Barris performing and Sandra Padgett as host.

Doors open at 6 p.m.

Barris is an A-list Nashville songwriter whose songs have been covered by Kathy Mattea, Martina McBride and Lee Ann Womack.

Her “Let the Wind Chase You,” recorded by Trisha Yearwood and Keith Urban, was nominated for a Grammy Award for vocal collaboration in 2009.

When not touring solo, she performs with the trio The Waymores. She is currently touring with her new CD, “Wilder Girl.” Reservations are encouraged for tonight’s show, as seating is limited.
